Many theorists have historically believed that economic behavior was largely based on individual tastes which were unaffected by social interactions or economic class. Recently however, researchers have found that while some trends are consistent throughout classes regarding economic behavior such as over-spending and under saving in an attempt to gain status materials similar to that of the higher class, other spending behaviors differ depending on economic class, such as food consumption behavior and percentage of dispensable income spent on leisure activities.
