How Freud And Kinsey Conceptualized Human Sexuality
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. What appeared aberrant to Freud was a wholly natural component of human existence to Kinsey. Indeed, the notion of sexuality represented two entirely different concepts to these men from its very definition to the manner by which it should be studied to its overall place within society. Looking at Freud's approach from the rather obscure perspective of his Oedipus complex and Kinsey's from a viewpoint of highly tangible statistics leads one to believe that sexuality can represent two very different ideals depending upon its interpretation. A 6 page book review of Howard Gardner's Extraordinary Minds (1997). Gardner's theories regarding the nature of human intelligence have changed the manner in which many educators approach their classrooms (Weiss 45). It was Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences that first caused educators to broach the ideal of tailoring school to the minds of children and how they learn rather than trying to force the children to adapt to the school. In his text Extraordinary Minds (1997), Gardner expands on his ideas concerning intelligence by taking a biographical approach and closely examining the lives of four people who exhibited extraordinary mental development: Mozart, Freud, Virginia Woolf and Gandhi (Weiss 45). Inpatient Mental Health Services
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page paper discussing mental health hospitalization. Hospitalization for mental health issues does not carry the social stigma it once did, but it still is not favored by insurance providers. The vagaries of insurance can cause hospitals to turn away those who could benefit from their services, but they do not limit treatment for those who absolutely require it. These patients have state hospitals available to them. Though state hospitals may not be as aesthetically pleasing or as discreet as private ones, they do offer quality care to those in need of it without the ability to pay for it. Integrating Orem’s Self Care and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page paper integrating the concepts of Orem’s self care model and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Astute health care providers encourage patients in both acute and long term care to do as much for themselves as they can, operating within their limits while also responsibly stretching them at the same time. This concept can be related to Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, which classifies human needs in a range of five classifications beginning with basic physiological needs and ending with self-actualization. The purpose here is to meld Orem’s Self-Care Model and Maslow’s hierarchy in a way that can more greatly inform nursing practice. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
